Spider-Man Brand New Day Achieves First-Ever Billion-View Trailer Milestone in Four Days

Date:

A new chapter in cinematic history has been written by Spider-Man: Brand New Day, whose trailer became the first in movie history to exceed one billion views. Released on March 17, the milestone was confirmed by data firm WaveMetrix within just four days of the trailer’s debut. The achievement eclipses every prior record set by Hollywood, gaming, and beyond.

The 24-hour viewership figure of 718.6 million was itself unprecedented. It broke the mark set by Deadpool & Wolverine’s Super Bowl teaser in February 2024, which had attracted 365 million views in its first day. Spider-Man: No Way Home’s 355.5 million first-day record and Grand Theft Auto VI’s 475 million were also surpassed with room to spare.

WaveMetrix data showed the cumulative total had reached 1.1 billion by Tuesday, confirming the historic nature of the achievement. The Brand New Day trailer now sits alone at the top of trailer history, having surpassed records from franchises including Marvel, DC, and major video game publishers. It represents a new frontier for audience engagement in the digital age.

Scheduled for July 31, Brand New Day is the fourth installment in Tom Holland’s MCU Spider-Man series and is part of Phase Six. The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, with the cast including Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo. It will be available in India in six languages.

The trailer shows a post-No Way Home Peter Parker attempting to rebuild his life in isolation, with no one — not even MJ or Ned — knowing who he is. The emotional resonance drove fans to share the trailer widely and craft viral reactions across social media. With a July 31 release on the horizon, Brand New Day is shaping up to be one of the defining cinematic events of the year.
