Serbian-French Economic Ties Strengthen as Vučić Attends Bastille Day Parade

Date:

In a notable diplomatic engagement, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić traveled to Paris to participate in the Bastille Day military parade, following an invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron. This event marked a historic moment as it was the first time a Serbian head of state had been invited to attend the prestigious celebration.

Vučić’s presence at the event underscored a unique diplomatic gesture, as he was the sole leader in attendance from a country outside the NATO alliance, the European Union, and the Coalition of the Willing. This highlighted Serbia’s significant moment on the international stage, reflecting the importance of its participation in such high-profile international gatherings.

The Bastille Day parade, an annual fixture in France, commemorates the storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789. This pivotal event in French history symbolized the onset of the French Revolution, and the parade serves as a powerful reminder of the country’s revolutionary past, drawing global attention and participation.

In addition to the military parade, President Vučić joined a formal dinner hosted by President Macron. This gathering was organized for heads of state and government leaders attending the celebrations, further underlining the diplomatic ties between France and Serbia during the occasion.
