This incident, which took place last month, has raised concerns about an increasing threat of cyber warfare targeting the UK. The power plant was rendered inactive for four days due to the attack. However, officials from the UK government assured that the incident posed no risk to the country’s broader electricity grid or national energy supply.
The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero highlighted that the affected power facility was relatively small in scale, reinforcing that the UK’s energy network as a whole remained robust and secure. The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) reported that there were no disruptions to major regulated power stations, indicating that the larger infrastructure remained unaffected.
