Saudi-French Business Relations Expand to Diverse Sectors Beyond Oil Industry.

Date:

The economic partnership between Saudi Arabia and France is experiencing a transformative shift, as trade patterns increasingly mirror Saudi Arabia’s strategy to expand its economic horizons beyond oil. In the year 2025, French exports to the Kingdom reached approximately $4.5 billion, while the imports from Saudi Arabia were around $3.7 billion. This represents a notable departure from past trends, where Saudi Arabia typically enjoyed a trade surplus with France.

This change can be attributed in part to a decrease in French imports of oil and petroleum products, as France has diversified its energy sources. Additionally, the relatively low oil prices in 2025 contributed to a reduction in the value of energy imports from Saudi Arabia. Concurrently, Saudi Arabia’s appetite for French goods has broadened, encompassing sectors such as aerospace, industrial equipment, pharmaceuticals, technology, and luxury goods like perfumes and cosmetics.

The evolving trade landscape is closely aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to lessen the nation’s reliance on oil revenues and foster the growth of new industries. As a result, French companies are increasingly exploring investment opportunities in Saudi Arabia, particularly as economic activities surge across various non-oil sectors.

France’s engagement in Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification is further evidenced by the diverse array of goods now in demand. This expansion highlights the success of the Kingdom’s strategic plan to build a more varied and resilient economy. For French businesses, this signifies a wealth of opportunities in a market that is gradually shifting its focus from oil to a broader spectrum of economic activities.
